WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MARKET THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY
COVID-19 simply killed your industry. No easier way to put it. That doesn’t marketing is an option, it only reinforces that this is the time to invest in yourself through marketing. The most important thing you can do right now is create amazing content. Travel industry marketing during COVID-19 doesn’t need to be complicated, it needs to be creative.
It doesn’t matter what you do in the travel industry, you have to get creative when it comes to COVID-19. All travel plans have been disrupted, let people know what you’re doing at this time. What you have planned. During this time the season will change from winter/spring into summer. Focus on highlighting where you’re at or where you send people.
Travelers are going to be ready to get out when this is over, what are you doing now that will attract them to you when they’re ready. Get people to start thinking about what they want to do, help them plan even thought they’ll still be cautious about their health.
Obviously different industries are going to have a harder time than other. Cruise lines will obviously have more difficulty than hotels simply because of the confined spaces. That being said, if you can focus on the traveler, their goals, their experience once this is over, they’ll think of you when they’re ready to book their next trip.
Topics to help travel industry marketing during COVID-19:
- Show them what’s changed, show them fun facts, show them what’s available in the summer time.
- What are you doing during COVID-19 to make their future trip better?
- Can you offer future trips at a discounted rate now?
- Give them virtual tours of what you have to offer
- Show them what summertime looks like there
HOW TO USE DIFFERENT OUTLETS WHEN MARKETING YOUR TRAVEL BUSINESS
Simple texts that drive people to a landing page or social media page that gives information about your destination(s) during COVID-19.
This is an opportunity to ask questions and engage with travelers. Send them to creative content you’ve created that will entertain them, entice them to share. You don’t need to send constant emails but a few a month will keep you top of mind when they’re ready to book their next trip.
Here’s where you can shine. Show people what you have to offer during normal trips. Use organic posts and paid posts to spread your message. You don’t have to spend a lot of money here, be strategic by targeting either your database list or target frequent traveler profiles.
